CLACE-4 Project Instruments and Data - Forward Scattering Spectrometer Probe
The Forward Scattering Spectrometer Probe (FSSP) and Cloud Droplet Probe (CDP) installed on the rotatable crossarm at the Jungfraujoch.

The Forward Scattering Spectroemter Probe logging screen, showing a droplet distribution, with very little ice present. The droplet distribution has a peak diameter of about 10um. The screen also shows a recent time history of FSSP data, showing the arrival of the cloud at the site. Periods with a very variable MVD (mean volume diameter) are periods where there is more ice present in the cloud.
